Good Mental Health; How do you know you're in a good place mentally. Especially since within the Christian community it's a topic hardly ever discussed. Considering the rate of suicides among Christian leaders is on an increase over the past 12 months, good mental health must become a prioroty within our Christian community.
But suicide is not the only issue on the table, Christians suffer from anxiety, stress, sleep deprivation, lasciviousness, etc. All these have bearing upon how we function among one another and within our comunities.
Unfortunately only after a tragedy are mental discrepancies discovered. People are masters of disguise when it comes to covering up symptoms of poor mental health.
Today we will discuss with my guest Dr. Sandy Murphy the necessity of good mental health; how to diagnose if you need help, and to statagize how we can effectively help this growing problem in our communities.
Dr. Murphy is a survivor. At age 18 her husband shot her in the face at close range with a twelve gauge shotgun. Miraculously she survived! She is the founder and Executive Director of several agencies regarding mental health: The Fair Care Center, Building Better Families Counseling & Training Serv's along with a Violence Prev Edu team that assisted the Cooling Room Project which provided Anger Management Courses and Mental Health Educational Series.
