The Washington Times throws an overhand right and Tysheoma is on the ropes....

$01...2....3 and The Washington Times has won! The Times has won! Tysheoma Bethea is down for the count. In a no holds barred , handicapped match The Washington Times has just defeated a 90 lb, 4'9, 13 year old girl and zero year veteran in Tysheoma Bethea. This is Ultmate Fighting at its best...$0$0By now we have all heard the story of Tysheoma Bethea a young student at J.V. Martin Junior High school in South Carolina, who wrote a letter to the president and Congress asking for help for her decrepit school. While some of us were saying "way to go", the Washington Times was busy preparing for a title match with the kid.$0$0The Times' editorial derailing of President Obama's celebration of Tysheoma letter went too far.$0The paper ignored the facts that Tysheoma is an 8th grade student, an optimist, and did what we should all feel like it is okay to do--ask out politicians to make sure our schools are safe-- the Washington Times decided that despite these admirable facts what was more important than this young girl's wide eyed hopefulness was President Obama's political astuteness.$0$0In his speech to a joint committee of Congress Tuesday night, Obama said that he had visited the school before. It was no surprise that he had some previous connection to the school, but SO WHAT. It seems only that The Times cares if was a "random missive plucked from a bulging mailbag" or not. If Tysheoma had written that letter from a school the Obama's had never visited would it make her letter more poignant? If President and First Lady Obama had visited a school which they had not seen on a PBS special would that make the visit more sincere. If President Obama's visit inspired Tysehoma's letter, does that in someway diminish her concerns? Does the Washington Times purport that Tysheoma should not be lauded?$0$0So we ask, what happened to this country? Are we now at the point where our politics outweigh our conscious? There was a time in our county when we praised the enterprising acts of a student, whether we agreed or not. But not anymore. The Washington Times has painted a picture that would have you believe the President Obama has no real concern for J.V. Martin Junior High School - and praising the Tysehoma was mere grandstanding. The Times is so committed to vilifying the president that they would sacrifice a child to the altar of politics.$0$0So to Tysheoma we say horray! And to the Washington Times we would like to remind you that Ultimate Fighters must be at least at 18 years to enter the ring!$0$0To hear more log onto blogtalkradio.com/thedonandi$0You can listen live on Saturday Mornings @ 10am EST$0$0Picture taken from the Washington Times$0http://media.washingtontimes.com/media/img/photos/2009/02/24/Obama_Speech_Kwed2__r350x200.jpg?0babd24c67$05f3097b9d1ff106ec8653055db7939
