Herbal supplements are becoming popular these days. People prefer herbal supplements to chemicals. Our traditional medicine is based on the medicinal properties of plants. Sea animals bees and are also used in the herbal medicine. Herbal medicines have been used for very long time. The paintings in Lascaux caves in France depict the use of plants in the medicinal field. Animals too prefer natural healing. Dogs chewing grass when it gets sick is a common sight. Garlic, opium, castor oil, coriander, mint were used in ancient Egyptian medicine.
Turmeric also was used in Indian medicine. The ancient Greeks and Romans also are known to use the medicinal properties of plants. The famous siddha, ayurveda, homeopathy systems are known for the natural cure. Herbal supplements are widely used instead of vitamins and mineral capsules. Aloe Vera is used to treat burns while blackberry is used in cosmetology. It has a unique property in interfering with skin wrinkling. Garlic is known for lowering cholesterol levels. Green tea is an antioxidant. It inhibits growth of cancer cells. Ginger, Vanilla, soy, pomegranate, magnolia, milk thistle etc also has medicinal values. Green tea is a great anti-oxidant and is very beneficial in protecting against Infections. Essential oils are well known in beauty treatments. Essential oils are either used in diluted form or along with carrier oil. Herbal extracts are also used in form of salves, oils, balms, creams and lotions. Syrups are also a herbal supplement. The herbs are mixed with sugar and water in certain proportion and boiled to get the syrup. Herbs are consumed through inhalation. This is done in aromatherapy which is used as a mood changing treatment and is popular in curing common cold or cough. It is also used for skin cleansing. Nature provides good source of food. We tend to follow crash diets in the urge to lose the water weight. This affects our metabolism. Exercises are the best way to reduce weight.Focussed exercise like tummy fat exercise to burn stomach fat is the best way to reduce body fat.
