    2007 Year End Grades

    The December 30th show is in the books and was all about the year end review. We discussed each brand and gave grades to certain areas of each brand. Here is the breakdown of the grades we gave to RAW, Smackdown!, ECW, iMPACT!, TNA and WWE:

    Mid-Card Feuds:
       TNA: B+
       ECW: C
       RAW: C+
       SD: A-

    Tag Team Scene:
       TNA: D
       ECW: No Grade
       RAW: D
       SD: D

    Women's  Division:
       TNA: A
       WWE: B

    World Title Scene:
       TNA: C-
       ECW: D
       RAW: B+
       SD: B-

    Pay Per View Shows:
       TNA: B
       WWE: B

    Television Shows:
       TNA: D+
       ECW: D-
       RAW: B-
       SD: B-

    Overall Grade (Not a compilation grade):
       TNA: C-
       ECW: D-
       RAW: C-
       SD: C

    As you can see, it is the belief of The Daily Suplex that 2007 was not a great year for the wrestling industry.  The overall grade includes outside factors that hurt the shows (i.e. injuries, steriod investigation, Benoit murders, etc) and this is the reason it is not a compilation grade based on the individual categories.  Highlights based on our grades include TNA's women's division and Smackdown's mid-card performances.  Let's hope that 2008 is a better year for the business than 2007 was.  To hear the breakdown on the grades we gave check out the show in our archives.

       Brian Thomas:  Jay Lethal pins Kurt Angle for the X Title clean at No Surrender
       Big Luther:  Seeing Shawn Michaels wrestling John Cena at WrestleMania live
       Jon:  Watching Mr. Kennedy's push during the first half of the year

    Next week we come live after the TNA Final Resolution PPV.  We will talk about all the events from the PPV, but also we have some predictions for 2008, our awards for 2007, and we begin our Road to WrestleMania with the first installment of WrestleMania Flashback.  Join us this coming Sunday night at 10PM Central.
