Downtown Las Vegas. Once the glimmering glitzy core of Las Vegas nightlife, this downtown area has faced an ongoing battery of challenges. The recent economic downturns hit it particularly hard. Over the years, attempts have been made to revitalize this area, with little change. Now an ambitious new endeavor, galvanized in large part by Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh, intends to take another run at it ... and this time it may very well work. The Downtown Project, which is slated to have made substantial progress by the time Zappos moves its corporate headquarters to the area in 2013, has its work cut out for it.
