In today's rap climate, pioneers of the venerable art form argue that the culture they once loved and labored for is now dead, while other pioneers have been inducted to the coveted Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame due to their passion for the five elements of Hip Hop. It is often argued that the "80s babies" of the culture are disillusioned and merely in the game for its lucrative rewards rather than the mere love of two turntables and a microphone. If such is the case, then Cashman and Booda of 718 Productions are the Halley's comet of their generation. Meeting each other in high school, Cashman and Booda discovered they shared the remarkable ability of charming attractive young women with their slick talk and effortless charisma. Recognizing each other's talents, they also discovered their incredible appetite for thumping beats and catchy melodies. Running with other Brooklyn heads during the turbulence of their adolescent years, they got a crash course in Music Business 101, encountering broken promises and come-and-go con men that prey on gullible youngsters hungry for the riches of the music game. Luckily for 718, Cashman built a home studio during these chaotic times. Upon completion, the duo recorded tirelessly, assembling a versatile, extensive catalog of tracks that many professionals could only dream to rival. With a library of music that's adds up to well over 100 songs, 718 has been steadily networking with industry insiders. In addition, Cashman has spearheaded a multitude of projects inspired by the preeminent producers of the hip hop underground, such as BlackMilk and the late great J. Dilla. These "hybrid" albums are currently building an impressive buzz over myspace.com and underground airwaves nationwide.
