Michael Sam, the first openly gay NFL player won the Arthur Ashe Espy for courage on Thursday, July 17, 2014.  The award was presented to him by Pro Wrestler and actor Duane “Rock” Johnson.  On the way to the stage, he was congratulated first by a young man identified as his love interest then by St. Louis Rams Coach Jeff Fischer, Pro Football great Jim Brown and openly gay ABC news anchor Robin Roberts.  Highlighting his tearful acceptance speech was a brief recant of words of encouragement he gave to a young woman who was contemplating suicide because she was gay.  His exit from the stage was met with cheering applause.

The Michael Sam emotional speech at the Espys is the spin topic for the Brothers in the Virtual Living Room to discuss homosexuality according to the holy scriptures.
