Repentance is the Key: Denying the Lusts of the Flesh

For those that believe in the Bible, it gives us the instructions that we need to receive salvation.  Unfortunately, many that desire to repent and follow the example of Jesus Christ continue to fall to the lusts of the flesh.  Can the Bible show us how to truly conquer our demons or is it just a book of psalms and proverbs?  Is the repentance that our Lord Jesus Christ gave us limited to just thoughts, ideas and professing his name or does it require us to make permanent life changes?
