On June 24, 2011, the Marriage Equality Act became law in New York State, making it the sixth state to legally recognize same-sex or "gender-neutral" marriage. While the new law does not allow the government to penalize religious institutions or clergy for refusing to sanctify or recognize these types of "unions" that contradict their religious doctrines, there will be those who will fully embrace it. The issue has caused people to re-think or re-define what marriage is and some argue that the new law threatens its "sanctity". What is the foundation for some of the arguments that are presented for and against same-sex marriage and is there really a separation of church and state? Does the Bible provide a clear definition or description of what marriage is? What does the passing of the new law really change? Are children that are raised in same-sex households more tolerant than those that aren't? Join us as we search the Holy Bible and the teaching of Jesus Christ regarding this matter.
