The Buzz...There are things we know by "doing the math" for instance if my great great grandfather was born in 1850 in Georgia, he was born into slavery. But what do I do with this information? The Sting... This year I will be the Big 4 O and my family has never had a family reunion. Over the years I've asked questions but never received answers to my satisfaction. My grandfather Russell Johnson died before I was born. The other day my sister said she thought the picture of MLK Jr was my grandfather because she had never seen him. As I plan our first annual family reunion, I've uncovered a great deal about my family's history based on what available on the web. The Healing...There is a range of emotions I'm supposed to feel but because I'm a logically thinking person there are things I already knew but only needed confirmed. I know there are reasons we act certain ways in society with other folks based on our past. My maternal grandfather's grandfather was born into slavery but how has that affected my way of thinking. Let's talk about that and what you know about your family's roots. As I type this, I had just completed preparing the invites for mailing. The research has left me drained mentally (O_o)
