Hot Topic: How do you know that they are the one? Love at first sight is it real? What is the best relationship advice you’ve gotten? Fashion: Angie Jones – Kolor Me To Kosmetics Everything to Know About This Year's Upcoming Met Gala It’s the highlight of the fashion calendar every year, where famous faces from the worlds of fashion, music and Holllywood gather in New York to throw an epic party. Officially, it’s the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, a black-tie extravaganza held the first Monday in May to raise money for the Costume Institute (a.k.a. the fashion department), the only one of the Met’s curatorial departments that has to fund itself. Unofficially, Monday night’s festivities in New York have been called many things, including “the party of the year,” “the Oscars of the East Coast” (mostly because of the star quotient and the elaborate red carpet, in which guests pose on the grand entrance stairs to the museum) From 1948 to 1971 it was held off-site at the Waldorf Astoria or Rainbow Room, where New York’s elite enjoyed fine dining and elegant costumes. When Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue, Anna Wintour, took the helm in 1999, celebs were added to the guest list. She featured preparing for the event in 2016 documentary The First Monday In May.
