In the first part of our inaugural episode, we consider one of the most pressing issues of the day: the budget that President Trump presented to Congress last week. Mark describes just how bad of a 'hot mess' this is, and gives insight into what Trump's real motivations are, including one of his deepest motives: On a deep level, Donald Trump is in a manhood contest with the world.
Even a brief look at the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution tells us that the American government is supposed to be about "providing for the general welfare" of the people, but, as Mark points out, that would mean doing a lot of things that the Trump budget either slashes or eliminates funding for. The government is also supposed to be about "providing for the common defense," but that doesn't mean we have to become Fortress America, armed to the teeth while the quality of American life deteriorates for everyone but the very wealthy.
In the second half of the broadcast, Mark lays out a vision for what America could be--and provides three straightforward ideas for funding that vision.
