Sam Chapman is a Marine Sargent (Retired) ,American Pioneer and Icon in the Sport Karate Memories ,as for the archives he was my first American Karate Instructor in the states that molded me into a decent Black Belt Point Fighter in the early 1970's.
It was the time of early beginnings , equipment was being introduce, in one city there may be one or two Karate Studios and there was no American Karate Studios , he was definitely a pioneer in School operations ,tournament producing and building Karate Organizations like S.E.K.A in the 70's
Sam was a top rated middle weight fighter, pioneer of Full Contact karate bouts who also became a great coach and mentor ,teaching and molding the greats like World Champion Jerry Rhome and legendary fighter Bobby Tucker that critics , Magazine Editors and writers er have wrote he was the fastest Black Belt point fighter alive.
Bobby Tucker earn the very first Joe Lewis PKA Award and being a rated Top Ten Fighter for years by Karate Illustrated Magazine, Sam and Bobby would travel and fight , and train , travel and train and fight Sam would also coach and mentor other great Black Belts , Lawrence Huff, Will Wright , Sherman Harrison , Gary Landgreth , Greg Suther ,Greg Cromer ,Blane Silver and Carlos Howard who still runs the famous Karate School of Greenville.
