The Al Woods Show Tune in to The Al Woods Show weeknights on Blog Talk Radio at 7:00pm Eastern time. The Al Woods Show covers high school and college sports and sometimes a little pro sports. The show is mainly about high school sports and recruiting information to help high school student athletes and parents make better decisions as it relates to getting recruited by college programs. We occasionally have a guest or two, from college coaches to sports writers and bloggers. The show is fast-paced and gives you great information. I often express my opinion on the many great topics and callers are welcome to express theirs as well. I started as a college recruiter helping thousands of high school student athletes get placed in college. Now I want to talk about recruiting and how I can help high school student athletes. My blog is about the subject of college recruiting and many other sports-related topics. There are a great many talk shows out there; some good, some great and others just winging it but so what right? I get to do a show every day and it’s a lot of fun! I enjoy talking about the fact that I grew up doing and that’s playing sports. I loved every level of sports as a high school and college basketball player especially getting a chance to play overseas in Argentina back in the 1980’s. So I would say that I know a thing or two about sports. I’ve always followed sports and I remember my very first sporting event was a San Francisco Giants baseball game when I was about 8 years old.     Many parents feel that the high school coach will guide a high school athlete through the college recruiting process. Keep in mind that most high school coaches are full-time teachers and to devote full-time to the recruiting process is not going to be easy.

    Parents want the best for their student athlete no matter what, whether they play a sport or not. But we are talking about the pressure-filled goal of getting that college scholarship, right? And I know how a lot of sport parents are. Most have some knowledge of what they’re doing and others are just plain crazy!

    Would you do it all over again?

    We all love sports and if you’re a high school student athlete your time is devoted to doing all that you can do and then some to get to the college level, right? That’s why you are working your guts out every day at practice and games to get college coaches to pay close attention to you. Many high school ball players right now are trying to figure out the college recruiting process while others know where they will be attending college. Let’s say after all of your hard work to get recruited for college; all the money and time spent on the process, you get all into your career as a college athlete and it’s not what you thought it would be. The coach is not what he was when he was recruiting you and made promises but did not keep or could not keep or would not keep them.

    Planning sucks for college athletic recruiting it really does! No one likes it to all the stuff you must do to get you’re name out there but I’m here to tell you must do it you may not want to do it but planning for college athletic recruiting is an absolute necessity if you want to get place with a college. And procrastination will kill any dream you have of getting into college!

    You Need Help Because You’re Coach Sucks

    How many of you know about high school players out there who, for whatever reason, is not in college or did not get any offers? I spoke to thousands of young ball players who felt that their coach messed them up some kind of way. Too bad for them, right? Their problem was because there were no takers for these good athletes. It happens all the time. Why, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you why. It’s because high school coaches do nothing for many of the players.

    I have seen many times on message boards, chat rooms, web sites and blogs where parents are asking questions about their son or daughter's ability to play at the college level. These parents are describing their son or daughter, what they can do, the high school they attend, their stats, grades, etc. Then when it comes to their height, weight and size I find that they are lacking in those areas. But parents are blinded because of their son or daughter's ability. Keep in mind that they have watched their kids play for years and they think, like most parents, their kid is the best and they want the best. It’s only natural. This leads to parents’ spending money on camps, thousands of dollars on tournaments and even more money on overpriced recruiting services.
