We continue in Deuteronomy covering our latest verse by verse study of Lessons for the Remnant believers. Here we look at Israel who was fearful in the face of the sons of Anak, but now fresh out of the fire of the wilderness are ready to meet the giants of the land and defeat them. We will cover in part 5 a message to all Christians plus wisdom that America should have learned. We follow along as Moses gives an overview of what life has been like. Here is where we find the phrase "book of reproof" which the Jews call Deuteronomy come into play. Who wants to be reminded of their past failures?
Israel in the final analysis had been proven, tested, and God knows what is in their hearts. These are paramount scriptures in understanding how far the Lord had brought Israel. In her early state, Israel could not have conquered anyone, but now; she is ready for things.
2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
