When you work in an office or large company, there is always a flurry of deliveries on Valentine's Day. Everyone is wondering when their loved one will send them a gift such as flowers, so that they can say what a loving and caring person they are married to or dating. I can remember when I was first married and worked in a large corporate office. My husband sent me lovely roses and I have to admit that it was quite nice. Now, my husband might do something a bit different. If he were to purchase flowers for me, he would make sure that they were Organic / Pesticide Free. He now understands that it is not only about the flowers, but where they are grown, who handles them, and a multitude of other reasons why Organic and Sustainable is better. My husband now realizes that it is not about the amount of money spent or the size of the present. My true Valentine has made the shift to making sure that whatever he does it will be "Green".This is a big step from a small town boy who grew up on a little island in the middle of Lake Erie. This is a man who loved his Doritos, could live anywhere as long as there was a Blockbuster video store, and lived the carefree island life. He had no idea that his thought process was about the change when he married me @?#* years ago. Here are some of the tips and ideas that my Green Valentine has done for me that could make Valentine's Day a bit more "Green"1. Order Organic Flowers2. Give the gift of an event such as tickets to a movie, play, or concert instead of "stuff"3. Give a live plant that can help clean the air of rejuvenate the workspace4. If you give jewelry, take heed to how the jewels and metals were processed. Look at vendors such as www.Greenkarat.com or other recycled jewelers.5. Make your valentine an Organic treat and surprise them with goodies such as home made marshmallows or a picnic lunch6. You can't go wrong with a good Organic wineHope that you have a lovely Valentine's Day!The USA Green Ladywww.MySpace.com/TheUSAGreenLadywww.HealthyGreenAndSmart.com
