She was selected three times as a Finalist in the Kerrville Folk Festival's New Folk Competition, as a Top 5 Finalist in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival's Troubadour Competition, The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival's Emerging Artist Showcase, and has received multiple honors from the Mid Atlantic Song Contest (2009 Finalist for "You Now", 2007 Silver Prize in Folk Category for "Sun on My Back", 2007 Honorable Mention in Pop Category for "Sunday Night", 2007 Honorable Mention in Folk Category for "Say So", 2006 Honorable Mention in Folk Category for "Consequence", 2006 Honorable Mention in Folk Category for "Soft Spot"). She plays regularly in New York City with her band at venues such as The Living Room, Makor, and The Bitter End, at festivals across the country including South by Southwest, The Heart of Texas Music Festival, NEMO (Boston), and others. Gretchen was featured in a 2009 FoxNews.com video clip as "one to watch". She has appeared on Charleston, South Carolina's ABC Morning Show "Low Country Live", the "Random Acts of Music" TV show (Canton, OH), and the "Bart Hawley TV Show" in Jackson, MI. Reviewers have offered glowing feedback, including quips such as the following from Discovering Artists; "Whatever she does, she should keep on doing it. This is acoustic rock magic...is there anything this woman can't do musically? I doubt it." Another reviewer cites; "Witt's voice is her own and her style distinctly unique...neither formulaic nor contrived. It's worth catching her play at one of her favorite spots: this woman deserves a following," (Red is All the Rage). For video footage, please visit www.youtube.com and search for "Gretchen Witt".
