It's that time of year again and who can wait for the NFL season to start, pre-season is right around the corner and the action gets started with the Buffalo Bills taking on the Tennesee Titans.
The Bills have undergone major changes signing embattled receiver Terrel Owens and completely revamping their offensive line and appear to be heading away from the conservative run first offense that never threw down field last season.
The Titans come back as a team under pressure to repeat their surprising success with Albert Haynesworth their defensive MVP and one of the top 5-10 defensive players in the whole NFL.
The Bills are given the usual away team spot of +3 points and with odds at -110 are a great pick in this game.
As their O-line is new they likely play more than the (usual) first quarter, starters playing longer equals more points plus the Bills have an extremely under-rated receiving core of Terrell Owens, Lee Evans, Roscoe Parrish, Josh Reed, Justin Jenkins, James Hardy and Steve Johnson and are among the most dangerous team in the league on special teams.
Add to that their three running backs Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson and Dominic Rhodes all will get a few reps and the Bills are set to surprise.
Lastly as this will be Vince Young's first action since losing the starting job and then having a very public meltdown and now he has a "start me or trade me attitude" I just can't see the Titans coming out very cohesively in this game unless it's set up to be a sort of "show and sell" of Vince Young to possible suitors, given his mental history and that Mike Vick is out there pretty tough sell.
As a bonus consider taking the over as I expect 20 plus points out of the Bills it will not take much to get past the current line set at 31

North Carolina Tar Heels are coming off an 8-5 season record in 2008. This will be coach Butch Davis' third season at the helm and he certainly has the team heading in the right direction. Before Davis entered the picture the Heels were 3-9 in 2006. They have steadily improved to 4-8 in 2007 and 8-5 in 2008. Their defense has nine starters returning and three of those players have been named to All-ACC squad. Even though the Tar Heels ended last season with a loss in the Meineke Car Care Bowl, it was against No. 15 ranked West Virginia and it was by only one point 31-30. T.J. Yates is back under center and Shaun Draughn returns to the back field. I expect North Carolina to at least preform as well as they did last season. Shoot for the over. The over/under wins is listed at 8.5 on BetUS but if you like a little safety sportsbook.com has the Tar Heels going for 8 wins.

This week we have the Tiger-cats hosting the Eskimos in a Saturday night matchup. The Ticats have already put as many wins on the board this season as they did through the entire 2008 schedule. Two weeks ago they found themselves in a defensive battle with Montreal that lead to Quinton Porter sitting for most the second half. However, Quinton Porter returned and the Ticats bounced back nicely last week to put 30 points on the scoresheet sending the Lions back to their den licking their wounds. RB DeAndra' Cobb had a breakout game rushing for 167 yards. The Ticats have scored 25+ points in three of their last four games and last week rushed for 200+ yards. Ricky Ray has the Eskimos firing on all cylinders who have scored 71 points over last two contests. He tossed his season high three TDs and rushed for another last week against the league's top defensive squad to hand the Alouettes their first loss. BetEd shows an Over / Under of 52 points and with these two teams crossing the goal line the way they are the OVER is looking good.

This week NASCAR Sprint Cup heads to NY and Watkins Glen International for the Helluva Good Sour Cream Dips at the Glen . I think all drivers will have 'Smoke' on their minds. Tony Stewart loves the Glen. He has three first place finishes and two seconds in the last five years . Of course, he does sit as the early favorite at +450 (BetUS) and I'm sure he won't be to far off that come race time. Smoke finished in double digits last week for the first time in last nine races. Last time he finished with a double-digit placing, he bounced back with a second and first in the following races. If you want to look at drivers other than Tony Stewart for this one, I would have to say take a good look at Juan Pablo Montoya. JPM likes road tracks and even more-so at Watkins Glen. He crossed the finish line in fourth place last year. The thing to wait for here is to see what place he starts in. When JPM starts at the front of the pack or there about, he seems to falter and end up looking at many a tailpipe. Amazingly, starting back is where he shines. His only win this season was from starting in the 20th position. Just last race he finished in second moving up from 10th and previous to that he started in second only to cross the line in 11th spot. Sportsbook.com is offering Juan Pablo Montoya (-110) in a head-to-head vs Jeff Gordon.
