Presidents have long used to their oratory skills to, as the 18th philosopher George Campbell explains, “enlighten the understanding, please the imagination, move the passion, and influence the will.” The essence of presidential rhetoric is to persuade. To that end, we will spend considerable time on the May 13th show talking about the current presidential race and how the rhetoric of the candidates differs from one another and from previous presidential candidates.
