I couldn't agree more with your ideas on "newer" groups in this field. I believe if a group is serious and doing this for the right reasons, they will want to learn how to do a proper investigation before they go to their first solo case. It is so important. Knowledge is power, and especially in this field, it is power you really need to keep you, your team members and most importantly your client safe.
