Each show will feature an interview and music from a different songwriter, and we'll talk about song inspiration, the songwriting process, and of course, tracks from artists' CDs and upcoming shows to attend.

    The Open Stage, with Bill Mulroney and Ron Goad

    On Sunday, August 30, Second Wind Bandits band leader Bill Mulroney and fellow band member Ron Goad will join Michelle on the Open Stage. The Second Wind Bandits are a seasoned group of musicians including songwriter Bill Mulroney on guitar and vocals; Gary Garvin on bass; John Donovan on lead guitar and keyboards; and Ron Goad on percussion. Their latest CD “A Gift Of Love” includes 11 tracks spanning Roots Rock, Pop/rock, Jazz and Blues genres. Bill Mulroney was named Folk Artist of the Year 2006 by New Artist Radio. In addition, he is also a NewSong Semi-Finalist and has won several awards from the Songwriter’s Association of Washington's Mid Atlantic Song Contest.

    The Open Stage with Les Thompson

    Les Thompson, a founding member of the Grammy-winning band, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, will join Michelle on Sunday, August 9th at 10 a.m. on The Open Stage to talk about his long musical history, his recording studio, and his upcoming SAW Concert at the Athenaeum on August 13th. Les Thompson was a founder of the legendary Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band (whose original line up included future Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Jackson Browne) and played on their biggest hits, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and "Mr. Bojangles."
