Host Laura Theodore, the Jazzy Vegetarian,  chats with Gene Baur president and co-founder of Farm Sanctuary to talk about the Annual Walk for Farm Animals, happening in 40 cities across the nation in September and October. This year it’s going to be the largest Walk for Farm Animals effort to date. Between September 10 and November 6, thousands of concerned citizens will join together in communities across the United States. There will be Walk for Farm Animals events in dozens of cities, from New York to California, and there is also a virtual event called the “Sleep In for Farm Animals”for those unable to attend a Walk event in person. Gene adopted a vegan lifestyle in 1985. Farm Sanctuary is America's leading farm animal protection organization, which runs the largest rescue and refuge network for farm animals in North America. Gene holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from California State University Northridge and a master's degree in agricultural economics from Cornell University and his efforts have been covered by leading news organizations, including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN. and the Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal, Washington His book, Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds About Animals and Food, was published by Simon and Schuster and has become a national best seller.
