Join the Jazzy Vegetarian, as she chats with top jazz flutist Ali Ryerson, about jazz and jazzy recipes! We'll also chat with organic gardening expert, Jodie MacKenn Bross, about planting a simple herb garden in a small space such as deck, patio or back yard. 2009 Jazz Flutist of the Year nominee (Jazz Journalists Association) performs, records and teaches internationally. She has toured with performances ranging from Carnegie Hall to the Kennedy Center; the Monterey Jazz Festival to the Guinness Jazz Festival in Cork; Ronnie Scott’s in London to the Blue Note in both NYC and Japan. Having released nearly 20 jazz albums on major jazz labels such as Concord Records, Ali is repeatedly voted among the top jazz flutists in the Downbeat Jazz Poll. She has worked with jazz icons such as Kenny Barron, Frank Wess, Joe Beck, Roy Haynes, Stephane Grappelli and Red Rodney as well as classical artists Julius Baker and Luciano Pavarotti. Ms. Ryerson, a Sankyo Flute Artist, studied with Harold Bennett and John Wion and is a graduate of the Hartt School of Music. Ms. Ryerson conducts master classes worldwide. Jodie MacKenn Bross owns Glenwild Garden Center with her father, Alex, a nurseryman, and her brother Brad, a certified landscape architect. Glenwild Garden Center is a community resource that offers landscaping services, a retail store, and educational classes. Jodie's specialty is natural living and organic gardening, and she loves supporting local farmers by selling their organic vegetable & herb plants. She offers classes on organic lawncare, composting and container gardening, among others.
