The Jazzy Vegetarian, welcomes Dik Darnell, who is an award-winning musician and producer. Mr. Darnell’s artistic life is dedicated to his spiritual and humanitarian work and he has led a vegan lifestyle for the past 40 years. He is currently producing seven artists including Lindsey Brier, Jonny Jyemo, Katie Gray, Ethan Shafroth and Summer West. He was a member of the famous Caribou Ranch Recording facility. The studio recorded such groups as Chicago, Elton John, The Beach Boys, Earth Wind & Fire, and Frank Zappa among others. Dik also produced for Casablanca and Filmworks. In the early 80’s Dik founded the Etherean Music label and released a series of Native American inspired and visionary albums. It was on the Etherean Label, that Dik produced Laura Theodore’s 1998 CD, “We’re Only Human.” He has won several awards for his work including the 1999 Indie Award for “Best Album of the Year” from the Association For Independent Music (AFIM) and the “International Broadcasters Award” (IBA) for the World’s Best Music in Advertising. He has composed and performed for several films, including the 1999 Emmy award-winning PBS mini-series documentary on the Spanish American War. He also wrote and produced the Sister Cities International Theme Song entitled “We Are One” with John Denver. He is the founder and Director of the Four Winds Foundation (a non-profit spiritual and educational foundation), and is also founder and director of the Frank Fools Crow Humanitarian fund that provides aid and assistance to Native American families throughout the United States.
