Hope Maxwell-Snyder, a native of Colombia, received an M.A. in Spanish literature from George Washington University, another M.A. in Spanish and Latin American literature from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in Spanish Medieval Literature from the University of Manchester in England. She has published widely in literary magazines and her books of poetry include, Strings of Broken Hearts, Chains, and The Houdini Chronicles. Hope is the founder and director of The Sotto Voce Poetry series in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. In addition, she orchestrates a poetry and music series at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown. She has been a frequent participant at the Bread Loaf Writers Conference in Vermont.
