Enjoyed the third show. Nice and laid back hosts. Good content for the new fantasy baseball player. Key segments that I liked included Mr. Wrong/Mr. Right – I liked how they cared about their “guys”, Nicknames, The Molls review of baseball information sources, and the Hot Corner. Good tip on using the DL to your advantage as well. Keep up the good work – have a new tip for the new player each show. Would like to hear more news/POV opinions on the Phillies and Red Sox. Looking forward to the show on roster management. Be more confident in your skills and knowledge base – express yourselves.

thanks! I'm going to listen to your show tonight (even if it's about the Yankees - I figure sisterhood in being female fans trumps team rivalries, right?). Maureen

When do you decide to drop someone, trade them, or keep them and hope for the better part of their season to arrive. This can apply to players who have had a hot spring and players who have been ice cold. I will try to give you a few pointers on when you hit that decision point and what to do, what to do.

    Very superstitious.....

So, Laura and I promised in this week's show to confess one of our superstitions when it comes to baseball.  So, here's my confession:

In 2004, there was a brief phenomenon known as the Yankee Hater hat that burst onto the scene early in the 2004 season, after the creators sent 36 hats to Kevin Millar, who then passed them out among the players.  At first glance, the hat looked like a Yankee logo, but then when you looked again, it is a Y crossed with an H, and the H has little devil horns and a devil's tail.  And it was a red cap with a blue bill, so it was very confusing to people at first.

So, being the deranged Red Sox fan that I am, I immediately mail ordered one (at that point there was a waiting list for them!).  I got mine by June, and wore it proudly all summer.  My husband thought it was immature and silly, and didn't really like it at all.

Fast forward to October 2004.  As you all know, the Red Sox found themselves down 3-0 in the ALCS to the Yankees.  I was ridiculously depressed, holding out some small hope that they could win a couple of games before the inevitable fourth win came, just to lessen the humiliation.  Then they won Game 4, and then Game 5...and Game 6!  It was time for Game 7, in Yankee Stadium.  As my family and I sat down for the game (by this time, all my kids were totally sucked in and watching with my husband and me), I made a vow - if the Red Sox won, if this could really happen, I would NEVER, EVER, wear the Yankee Hater hat again.  It would be retired.

Well, it worked (I'm sure that was the cause - it had nothing to do with bad pitching on the Yankees' part).  And I have never worn the hat again.  (I still have it - it hangs in my home office with my other Sox memorabilia).  I can never put it on, because - if I do - bad, bad things will happen to the Sox.  and it would be all my fault.

So - there you have it.  Do you have a superstition about either your fantasy baseball team or your favorite baseball team?  Do you know of a great superstition followed by a player, either current or historical?  If so, post a comment on the blog, or email it to gunmolls@fantasybaseballmafia.com.

    See you next week!
