Many of our destructive behaviors in relationships are rooted in childhood. When as a child one experiences the loss or chronic absense of a parent, a lifelong fear of abandonment sets in. As children, we learn to fear that we are not loveable enough to make a person we love stay with us. As adults we engage in behavior that we hope will keep a person attached to us. This can come in the form of extreme jealousy, clinginess, stalking, overcompensation, willingness to accept abuse, and even refusing to leave after the relationship has ended. This behavior that actually has the effect of driving the one we love away from us. Do you have abandonment issues? Listen to our relationship experts and judge for yourself!
