Are people still being sold as slaves around the world?

Most people look at slavery in America as some distant horror that ended with the Civil War. But the shocking reality is that there is still a very real trade in human flesh occurring around the world today. Women and children are being sold as sex slaves and America is still very much a part of this dehumanizing international business. There are those who have united to fight this very profitable flesh trade industry, but the first battle is for participating countries to acknowledge that it actually exists. Who is being bought and sold on the market today? What countries are they from? Who are the customers that buy them? How can we stop it?
