Illinois Senator Mark Kirk says he has a plan for ending the spree of gang related shootings that have devastated the city of Chicago: round up all suspected gang members and throw them in jail. For those who are weary of the daily reports of shootings and killings of innocent youth, that might sound like a great idea. But Congressman Bobby Rush said the idea sounds like something from an "Elitist white boy." Certainly, if you are a young black male, or the parent of a young black male who is constantly profiled every time you walk or drive down the street, that idea  sounds like something out of the Slave Codes in the deep south:  "Gang Member" is automatically translated as "young black male" even though every ethnic group has its component of lawless youth. So how do we stop the killings without violating the rights of the innocent? Call and express your opinion.
