Why The Revolution Was Not Televised

The fabled Revolution by Gil Scott Heron will not be televised.  Why would the media give power to a new generation of thought?  Why would they give power to a new group of leaders angered by years of disrespect and unequal treatment?  Why would they give the poor, weak, and defeated anything?  Why give anything if our thoughts can just be taken away?

The Revolution was not televised because the Internet is exactly a net.  It was used to capture the ideas and thoughts of the next generation of leaders by casting a broad net over the marketplace of ideas.  If Hollywood can steal the ideas in their earliest phase of development, why give credit to the next generation of leaders?  The current leaders are fat, happy and paid in full.  They will do and say anything to maintain their celebrity status and power inside the media.  It's like having a Mexican standing guard on the porous border seperating America and Mexico.  If anyone comes in, then the guard loses their place.  That guard will do everything to hold onto power.  That's why the Revolution has not been televised.  The current Black leadership is selfish.  It's all about self-preservation.  We only have one Oprah.  We only have one Black political leader at a time.  We all know it's true, but what can we do about it?  Hollywood is the megaphone that moves the masses.  Without the megaphone, you're just a nut screaming in the wind.  One person can make a difference, if they never see you coming.  The Internet is an early warning device.  Who has the power to move Oprah?  It will take a new King to move a Queen.
