As Indianapolis ponders making college a requirement for the hiring of police officers and a new study just released claims that educated offices are less likely to use force, we explore whther it makes sense to require college for cops. Join former police chief Dr. Richard Weinblatt, The Cop Doc, whose book "Cops & College: Lessons in Professionalism" is available on Amazon.com, as we explore the topic live for the full hour. The expert panel tonight includes former police officer and Councilor Ben Hunter, the chair of the Indianpolis Public Safety Committe of the City Council and a backer of the push for college educated Indianspolis cops, and our regular police expert Roy Bedard. We'll explore whether the move restricts diversity in policing, as Chicago Alderman Anthony Beale contends. Beale is pushing to repeal the Chicago requirement for college education. Or does it lead to officers that are more thoughtful in their use of force? Do these academic officers treat people with more or less respect? School is in as we learn about this issue tonight on The Cop Doc radio show.
