Gideon Stein is the co-founder and President of Future Is Now Schools, a national organization focused on developing politically and economically sustainable school models. Future Is Now is opening its first turnaround at John McDonogh Senior High School in New Orleans in late summer 2012.

Gideon is a partner with Argyle Holdings LLC, a real estate development company of premier  residential properties in Northern Manhattan.

Previously, Gideon was the founder, Chairman and CEO of Omnipod, Inc., the leading on-demand provider of real-time messaging to the enterprise market, until its sale in 2005 to MessageLabs Group, Ltd., one of the world’s largest private software companies (and now a division of Symantec).

In addition, Gideon is actively involved in providing excellent educational opportunities to underserved children throughout the country. Gideon is the Vice Chairman of Success Academy Charter Network, was the founding Chairman of the board of Success Academy Harlem 5, serves on the board of directors of Success Academy Upper West (where his daughter is in first grade) and Green Dot New York, a unionized charter high school in the Bronx. Gideon serves as the Chairman of the Tapestry Project as well as NYC Common Communities and is a member of the Advisory Board of Families for Excellent Schools. Gideon is a director and member of the investment committee of the Moriah Fund, a private foundation.

In addition, Gideon serves on the International Council and Investment Committee of the New Israel Fund. Gideon also served on the board of directors of the Real Silk Investment Company, a publicly traded regulated investment company, until its sale to Lord Abbett Affiliated Funds.

Gideon graduated with honors from Wesleyan University with a degree in Economics and History.
