"Living in Reality with Terryl Ebony"

Living in Reality with Terryl Ebony is a platform to bring awareness and possible solutions to everyday life issues with a concentration on those things that intimately affects families, parents and youth. My goal is to broaden the minds of the narrow-minded and open the eyes of the blind. We are often not living in reality. Most of us live in a fantasy world that we have cocooned ourselves in. It is not until people acknowledge and accept the negative reality that we will be able to change it to benefit our family, children and society. I hope you will join me in my crusade to bring awareness to the world.

    Step Parenting: Part 2

    Date / Time:

    Category: Family

On November 1st we touched the surface of how step parenting affects everyone involved (ex-mate, new mate, biological parents, child and other siblings)? Join my panel guests this week as we discuss some additional pros and cons of step parenting. We will see how living in mixed homes effects not only the children but the adults as well. We talk further about some boundaries are set between the dual household? We will also talk about the feeling of over stepping of some boundaries (ie: combing hair, buying clothes or toys, doing homework, taking the child out) What is an appropriate name for the child to call the step parent? Should the step parent refer to the child as a step child or their child? Who would be most affected by these actions, the child or the parents? So many questions, what are the answers? Join us as we begin to break the silence and start looking at what's "REALLY" important in this love triangle.

A Deeper Look Into Foster Care Children and The System

A Deeper Look Into Foster Care Children and The System. Today my guests are from different sides of the Foster Care system. We have Tanisha Cunningham and Marvin Bing, Jr that are both prior foster care participants that have grown to be successful citizens in society. Ms. Cunningham has started her own non-profit organization, "The Underground Railroad to Success", to give back to the children in foster care based on her own experiences and what she witnessed. Although Mr. Bing did have his share of run ins with the law as a foster care participant, he grew to follow in his father's footsteps as a well-known youth leader and activist in Harlem, NY. Then we have Dr. Glenda Clare, pyscholigist, licensed minister and founder of the "Fragile Families Network". Dr. Clare is also a foster care mother of a teenage girl that has given her problems from day one. When things became violent, she decided to relinquish her guardianship over this young lady and was told that she would be arrested for neglect and abandonment. So where does she turn and what does she do to protect herself from a teenager that obviously shows no appreciation for what this woman has done for her. Today we will analyze her situation and try to better understand the foster care system. Please join us and call in if you have similar stories and/or comments on this topic. 718.508.9378.

    Stereotyping:

STEREOTYPES: A lot of people have an opinion on this subject and most people don't want to voice it out loud. Well on Living in Reality with Terryl Ebony, that's exactly what we are going to do. It is very important to bring awareness to this issue and how it affects us and our children on a daily basis. My guest panel will include Pamela Brewington, Craig Jenkins and Tanisha Cunningham (The Underground Railroad to Success). We will take a in depth look into stereotypes and how we can shield our children and/or give the necessary tools to arm themselves when being faced with this adversity.

Why Some Men Treat Women Badly

Why do Some Men Treat women so badly? Where is the breakdown? Is it in the upbringing? Is it in the communication? Is it that men still feel women are inferior so there is that lack of respect? Join me and my co-host, Tanisha Cunningham, MSW - Founder/Executive Director of the Underground Railroad to Success and my panel of guests, Marcel Pope, Craig Jenkins, Onika Pascal and Pastor Variance as we exam all the angles of this problem. Feel free to call in and give your views and share your stories on this issue - 718.508.9378 or log on to the live chat at 5pm.
