Show Notes

Since we're getting more listeners, I decided to try to actually have a format. So, here goes. We will have a live chat running on all segments except The Constitution and You. I will not be running it myself, as I can't talk and type at the same time, but I have help for that! For call ins, for the first 90 minutes of the show, please feel free to call in, but we're going to keep calls to 3 minutes during that period, in a question and answer type format. But, since I like to talk too, the last 30 minutes is wide open for discussion. I hope you'll tune in and chime in if you get the chance!

    Stop the Maddness

I sent this as an email to everyone I know (my mother told me to).  Please pass it along to everyone you can!!!!

    Hi Everyone,

I don't normally do this, but it's important that as many of us as possible are aware of the huge fraud our government is trying to pass off on we the people under the guise of economic recovery.

FACT:  The United States Government does not own one dime of money.  All funds used by the Federal Government must first be confiscated from the American People.  The Federal Government is not an investor, it is not a producer, it is a necessary evil to prevent one person from impinging on the rights of another, and to keep the nation as a whole safe.

FACT:  Last fall the Democrat Congress (in collusion with several Republicans, including President Bush) passed an economic recovery bill that cost more than $750 Billion dollars, after bailing out Fanny Mae, Freddy Mac, and several other businesses.  So far, $350 Billion dollars of this money has been spent, and our stock market is still in free fall, foreclosures are still happening, credit is still frozen.  In other words, the money that the government printed and borrowed, and promised to pay back with our money, has not accomplished a single thing that it was intended for.

FACT:  The Congress passed this spending under the cover of "crisis" that demanded immediate action without scrutiny and without question, to avert immediate disaster.

FACT:  The current Congress and President are claiming the same crisis for a new round of spending that will create 18 new Federal Programs (which will of course require more spending down the line), and is billed as an economic stimulus package.  The stimulus includes $650 Million dollars for converter boxes for people's television sets to assure that everyone can still catch the news after the switch to digital TV.  More than $16 billion to subsidize already subsidized college tuition programs, 1.2 Billion for summer jobs for youth (that's 1.2 Billion for three month jobs), $200 Million for 16,000 jobs in AmericaCorps, and the list goes on and on, adding up to a whopping $850 Billion dollar price tag, before you include the interest which will put this package well over $1 TRILLION dollars.

Congress has already passed this, it's moving to the Senate.  Contact your Senators and tell them to vote NO on this travesty of a bill.  I know the economy is rough.  I know we've hit a bump in the road.  I know people are hurting.  Don't let your government turn this natural cycle of the market into an excuse to make you dependent on them.  They work for you, not the other way around.

For complete information on this bill, links to your government Representative, and analysis of the various parts of this bill, please visit The Key to Happiness.  Please pass this on to as many people as you can, as them to contact their Senators.  This bill not only affects each and every one of us, it will have repercussions for generations to come.  Don't make your grandchildren pay for your government's overreaching today.

    Sincerely,

    Tera Ertz

    Heroes and Villains

Follows is a list of the heroes and villains of the 111th Congress.  House Resolution 1 passed the house yesterday (for those who don't know what that it, it is the $850 billion pork barrel spending bill masquerading as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act).  Here is the list of the yeas and nays.  Find you congressman's name, and contact them accordingly.  If they voted no, please don't forget to send them your congratulations and encouragement.  It's never easy to stand against such overwhelming opposition, and those who do need our support.  I am proud to say not one Republican voted for this massive fraud, and 11 Democrats chose the good of the nation over political party.

    ---- NOT VOTING    1 ---

    Brown-Waite, Ginny

For more information on HR 1, visit THOMAS Library of Congress.  Enter HR 1, click the Bill Number button, and hit search.  This will give you links to the votes, the amendments, the debate, all of it.  See what your congress is doing, and tell your senate to hold firm.

The Key To Happiness - The Constitution and You

We at The Key to Happiness are adding a new weekly segment in which we will explore the US Constitution, what it says, why it says it, and what it means. The key to happiness with your government begins first with understanding what your government is hired to do. We'll start this week with the Preamble.

  • Date / Time:

    Bipartisan Stimulus Proposal

So, I was listening to Rush Limbaugh tonight, after my show, and I just had to post my thoughts here.  Mr. Limbaugh made a reasonable, serious proposal as an alternative to the current spending plan in congress.  I would encourage each of you to check it out at:

    Bipartisan Proposal

It is not something I would generally advocate, as it includes a lot of government spending.  However, it has its merits, and would certainly be better than the monstrosity we've been discussing the last few weeks.  If you find it to be as good an idea as I did, please contact your Congressman, Senator, and Senator McConnell (Republican leader in the Senate), and Congressman Boehner (Republican leader in the House).  If you are a democrat, and actually listen to my show, thank you!  And you should contact Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid about this as well.  This is truly a bipartisan solution that is a compromise from both sides and would actually work to help the economy long and short term.  Please take a few minutes.  You can find the contact froms for your Senators, Congressmen and the leadership in both houses at:

     Senators

    Congress

The leadership link is at the top left of both pages as well.  Remember The Key to Happiness - It's All Your Fault.  The time has come to do something about it.

  • Original Air Date:

The Key To Happiness - It's all your fault

We had an awesome show Saturday night/Sunday morning, but we ran out of time, so we're doing a special Monday night segment this week. So, if you watch the news, listen to talk shows, read the paper, or even watch movies and prime time entertainment, you must know the world is coming to an end. We want to show you here at The Key to Happiness, that if you get past assigning blame, and realize that it's all your fault, you can then begin to take control of your life, from the day to day, to the global scene, because if it's all your fault, then you can fix it.

  • Date / Time:

Website for summary of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

Okay, so for those of you who've been following our last couple of shows, the website if you want to check out the summary (instead of the mammoth text of the entire bill which is listed as HR1), you can try this website American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Summary.  This is the one I'm referencing now, although I may try to skim at least part of the 647 page bill if I get a chance.

    Enjoy the show!
