Join us on "Teen Talk" special guests Kathy MacMillan and Talila Lewis of Deaf Camps Inc. Deaf Camps, Inc. is a volunteer-run non-profit organization dedicated to providing fun, safe, communication-rich camps that promote the physical, spiritual, and social development of Deaf/hard of hearing children and children learning American Sign Language. Founded by Reverend (now Bishop) Peggy Johnson, Deaf Camps, Inc. have been providing quality camp experieces for deaf children in an American Sign Language environment for over 16 years. Returning campers attest: Deaf Camp is the best week of their summer! Deaf Camps, Inc. runs camps for deaf children ages 7 to 19, alongside ASL camps for hearing children ages 10 to 16, who learn ASL through lessons and shared activities with deaf peers. Volunteer counselors and directors work with the campers each year. Camps are currently held at Manidokan Outdoor Ministry Center in Knoxville, MD during the first full week of August each year.
