The Woodlands Talk

The Woodlands and surrounding communities now have a radio show. It is a way for residents to connect with one another. It is a way for us to feature some of the leaders of the community and give them a venue for sharing their message. We want the show to be valuable and intelligent - informative and entertaining. This weekly show airs each Thursday at noon. If you, or someone you know, have information that would be valuable in this community forum - please contact Kathi Frank so we can talk.

Show Notes

Kathi Frank, host of The Woodlands Talk, is a real estate agent. But there is nothing typical about the way she approaches serving her clients. As a life coach and author, her goal is to serve home owners, and those purchasing homes, with incredible honesty and focus on their individual needs. She has a history of supporting the community and now supports Montgomery County, TX residents by creating this broadcast. Get a FREE market report each month, by postcard or email. Date / Time:

Contact information for County Judge Alan B Sadler

Today, Judge Sadler shared his perspective on what is happening today in Montgomery County.  He explained his role and that of the County commissioners.  If you were not listening to the show when it aired earlier today, you will want to take to listen online or download a podcast.

Sadler shared that his interests were two-fold.  First, the economy is shifting and he is committed to watching the changes in order to be a good manager of the citizens money.
Although migration into the county has kept us with an 8-10% growth in previous years, he anticipates that the growth may be limited to 5-7% in 2009.

Secondly, his focus on transportation.  Everyone is quite aware that our roads are congested.  The funding for road improvements are dependant on state funds, so once again caution will be exercised to be certain that the county is not overextended in this uncertain economy.

He mentions that housing starts and permits have declined by about 1/3 from 2007 to 2008.  With closings of retail stores like Big Lots, Bennigans, Goody's and Steak n Ale in Conroe; again caution is the way to approach future growth.  We did not mention it on the show, but I noticed that there is a sign in from of Steak n Ale saying that another restaurant is coming into that spot on I-45.  That underscores my optimism and my opinion that we do not have the problems found in other parts of the US.

If you would like to ask the Judge questions directly, you can reach him at (936) 539-7812.  The office is open 8am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday.  He encourages you to call him with your inquiries about the subjects we discussed today and any other issue important to you.

If you would like to learn more about the County Judge and the Commissioners Court, you can go to http://www.mctx.org/cojudge and learn a lot about how everything works.

Remember that I am always open to hear your comments and questions (936) 441-1314 or Kathi@KathiFrank.com.
