The Woodlands Talk

The Woodlands and surrounding communities now have a radio show. It is a way for residents to connect with one another. It is a way for us to feature some of the leaders of the community and give them a venue for sharing their message. We want the show to be valuable and intelligent - informative and entertaining. This weekly show airs each Thursday at noon. If you, or someone you know, have information that would be valuable in this community forum - please contact Kathi Frank so we can talk.

Show Notes

Kathi Frank, host of The Woodlands Talk, is a real estate agent. But there is nothing typical about the way she approaches serving her clients. As a life coach and author, her goal is to serve home owners, and those purchasing homes, with incredible honesty and focus on their individual needs. She has a history of supporting the community and now supports Montgomery County, TX residents by creating this broadcast. Get a FREE market report each month, by postcard or email. "Crucible" begins its run this weekend, with the first show on Friday, February 27th and runs through March 22nd.  For more information visit the website: www.CrightonPlayers.org.  Or you can call the box office at (936) 539-4090.

    Crighton Players presents "The Crucible"

The Crighton Players, a well established theater company in Conroe, presents "The Crucible" beginning on Friday, February 27th and runs through March 21st. The story focuses upon a young farmer, his wife and a young servant-girl who maliciously causes the wife's arrest for witchcraft. The farmer brings the girl to court to admit a lie - and it is here that the montrous course of bigotry and deceit is terrifyingly depicted. The farmer, instead of saving his wife, finds himself also accused of witchcraft and ultimately condemned with a host of others."

The Woodlands Convention & Vistors Bureau - Nick Wolda

Today's interview with Nick Wolda is jam-packed with information about this incredible community called The Woodlands.

He described the "decompression zone" created by the trees and natural environment that residents experience when driving home.  Wolda let us know that we have twice the square footage in shopping in The Woodlands than are found in the world-famous Galleria area of southwest Houston.

The Woodlands has been selected by Southern Living magazine as the 8th best shopping in the southeast US.  This is only one of 450 articles that have been written in 2008 about this community.

With the reopening of The Woodlands Pavillion - this community continues to demonstrate its commitment to meeting the needs of residents and visitors alike.

There is a ton of information on this program and I encourage you to listen to the entire show.  Another place to get your information is on The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau offers a rich and deep wealth of information at its website: www.TheWoodlandsCVB.com.

    Contact information for Glenn Wharton

Glenn Wharton was the guest expert on our show February 12th.  His expertise was extremely valuable.  So, if you did not hear the show live, take the time to hear it now.

He talked about the most common maintenance issues that homeowners fail to do on a regular basis.  Of course, the failure to do small maintenance tasks can cost a great deal more money in the long run.  He also gave tips to both buyers and sellers of real estate in and around The Woodlands.  His insightful suggestions about how to prepare for the inspection process can be very useful.

If you would like to learn more, Glenn invites you to contact him directly.  His telephone number is (281) 850-0346 and he answers the phone most of the time.  First American Residential Services is the inspection company that Glenn represents and you can reach him via email: GWharton@LandAm.com

  • Original Air Date:

Property Condition? An inspector give advice!

Glenn Wharton of Land America Residential Services, an inspection company, will share his decades of experience in this week's show. Some of the topics he plans to cover are the most common defects he finds on inspections that the seller can remedy prior to placing the home on the market...things a buyer might notice to avoid going into a contract for a home with problems...changes that have recently been made in the standard home inspection report...and how property condition affects the power for both the buyer and seller in a transaction. Missing this show could cost you money - so tune in, or listen to the archived show.

    Montgomery County statistics and links

    Hi everyone,

As I promised on today's show, I want you to have access to a few links where there are statistics about the encouraging outlook on Montgomery county real estate.

First, the link about the $15,000 tax credit: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090205/ap_on_go_co/congress_stimulus
    and http://budurl.com/rpdk

For the 8% increase in home prices for the Greater Houston area per Goldman Sachs whitepaper:http://garygreene.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=55

The Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University has this report: http://recenter.tamu.edu/mreports/HoustonSLBay.pdf

Although it is not all rosy news - we are faring much better than the rest of the nation and a large percentage of the world.  I encourage you to focus on the good news and simply keep a Plan B in mind in case the other areas pull us further downward.
