TCP Live! Talk Radio

For the GROWN FOLKS AUDIENCE Only! TCP Live! Talk Radio: Unscripted & Uncut! caters to issues important to the Black Community. But if you offend easily, then you may not be comfortable over here as we don't discriminate--we rag about EVERYBODY, including ourselves! The first half of our show is dedicated to "Hot Topics"--how we see thangs going on in the media. The second half is dedicated to our controversial Main Topics. Considered by some to be the Millie Jackson of talk radio, our Hostess, Loni, along with her equally funny Co-Host Robert, be holdin' it down over here! TCP Live! Talk Radio, where we keep it real FUN, ENTERTAINING, EDUCATIONAL and ENLIGHTENING!

How we Felt about Our First Show During Prime Time! (Feb. 22nd @ 6pm pst)

As tonight was our very first prime time radio broadcast, we feel that it went fairly well. Though the commercials were jacking up in the beginning, didn't play on time, delayed, we were able to move along. At one point, those in the Chat Room could not hear us, so I don't know what tech difficulty that was, but eventually it was okay.

With the new prime time format being of Hot Topics first, then the topic of discussion, as we  had much to discuss for the past few weeks, it put us way over our allotted time of 120 minutes. But, even that was okay. We had no idea that the show was so long as we have so much fun during these shows, it's not like we are on the radio at all, just friendly chatter and banter amongst friends. We are also very excited about bringing Mr. Robert Lampkins, Board President for the San Joaquin County AIDS Foundation, on as our permanent co-host. Robert is friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. We just love 'em, and are equally excited about his contributions.

  • Original Air Date:

    Depression & Mental Illness

As this is our first prime time broadcast, we are changing our show format. First we will be discussing current events, then recapping past shows as we have since received many emails regarding MRSA, AIDS, Men on the Downlow, and Light vs. Dark-Skinned Blacks. Thereafter, we will dive right into our topic of "Depression & Mental Illness." So, this show should be very interesting. Again, we keeps it real at TCP Live! Talk Radio: Unscripted & Uncut! so one never knows what will fly out of someone'

  • Date / Time:

Today's Show (Friday 2/15th): Our Guests & How I Felt it Went, Links...

I truly enjoyed today's show. The topic (MRSA) was very educational; and with our Special Guests, Ms. Betty Haynes, a friend and retired nurse who lost her beloved sister to this deadly disease; and my mother, Joyce, and her husband, Calvin, who barely survived this Staph Infection after his heart bypass surgery, this topic needed to be exposed. They told their respective stories, and though all of them were very nervous about being on the radio, they handled it like pros. I was telling my mother, after the show, that I still get nervous before recording this radio show, especially within the last 5 minutes before "Show Time." I get butterflies in the pit of my stomach, and "everythang!" But, I just handle and get through it.

Unfortunately, this time the intro music played much too long; and I could not shut it off until the switchboard became live, which allowed me to turn the music off. But, by this time, the whole daggon' song had played, which was not the intent. The tech difficulties must be dealt with, for real. However, short of that, I think it was a very good and interesting topic.

Oh yeah, let me not forget about my cell phone dropping. Geesh...on a couple of occasions, I could hear the guest, but they kept talking over me. Then I looked at my cell phone and realized that the phone line had dropped. And since there a lot of numbers to dial in order for me to get back on the show, it took me a minute. But, fortunately, my professional guests handled thangs, which was exceptional.

As for the commercials, I loved 'em. My sister and I produced the commercials/promo spots last night in my office.  I wrote the scripts and she did the voice overs. She has a wonderful voice. Everyone has always told her that she needs to use her voice for radio, and since she and her husband were visiting from Canada, we thought it the perfect timing to try it out; and she did a stellar job! She's a total natural. You will be hearing more from her in the very near future.

And on top of everything else, thanks to our listeners, TCP Live! Talk Radio: Unscripted & Uncut! has earned prime time slots. YEAH! So starting next Friday, February 22nd @ 6pm, we will broadcasting live. This will be great as now many of our listeners can listen live and call into the show versus always listening to the archived shows as they are usually at work at 12 noon, when we usually record.

So overall, I feel good about our progress, and look forward to getting better and better.

What Infectious Disease is Killing More People than AIDS? / Part 2: Light vs. Dark-Skinned Blacks

Part 1: Your public venues (i.e., local grocery stores, athletic clubs, playgrounds, and movie theaters) can put you and your children at risk for acquiring this deadly bacteria. Hear how MRSA, otherwise known as MARSA, is spreading throughout the community, affecting children and adults alike. Part 2: Does Light-Skinned Blacks have an Advantage over Dark-Skinned?

  • Date / Time:

The Show that we are Taping on Friday, 2/15th really hits Home, Personally!

Our show on Friday, 2/15th has two parts. The first half of the show, we will be discussing the deadly, yet preventable,  MARSA, Staph Disease. Though I know very little about the this bacteria, I was affected by it as my stepfather contracted it a few years ago after his heart by-pass surgery; and thereby put my mother at risk of contracting this contagious and deadly disease. Therefore, she will be one of our Guests on the show to discuss her experience and what she's learned since.

During the second half of our show, we will be discussing Light vs. Dark-Skinned Blacks. Do they have an Advantage, especially in the job market? This is another personal issue for me, as many would consider me light-skinned. Though I never thought so, I always considered myself medium brown, others would beg to differ. However, I grew up not liking my skin color, because my mother is dark-skinned. So as my mother will still be on the show, it will be very interesting for many to hear her take on this divisive subject.

  • Original Air Date:

Part 1: Knowing the Facts (HIV, AIDS, Homosexuality) / Part 2: Primary Presidential Election

The first half of our show continues from the first with "Baggin' & Saggin'". With our Special Guest, Robert Lampkins, the President of the San Joaquin County AIDS Foundation, we will discuss knowing the facts and making the difference as it relates to AIDS, HIV, Homosexuality, Downlow Men, and much more. The second half of our show is dedicated to the Primary Presidential Election between Hilary Clinton & Barack Obama.

  • Date / Time:

OMG! We were still recording, even after we thought we were off the AIR!!!!

OH MY Goodness! We were still recording, even after we thought we were off the air. panic. We thought we were off, and now the world has a bird's ear view of our business, etc. It listens like they are a fly on the wall. OMG! I need to find out how to get that off there without destroying the recording.
