She's the Founder and former Executive Director of Urban Neighborhood Services (UNS), a small multi-service agency in Southern Brooklyn that offers services in the areas of housing, employment, legal referral, financial literacy, counseling, and youth leadership. She is also the Founder and Outgoing Chair of the Coney Island Anti-Violence Collaborative– a coalition of stakeholders working to reduce gun violence in the Coney Island community. Dr. Frontus received her PhD from the Columbia School of Social Work in May 2015, where she concentrated in Social Policy and Administration. A recipient of the CSWE Minority Fellowship Program, her dissertation was entitled “Clergy’s Perceptions of their Role in Mental Health Service Delivery: A Qualitative Examination.” She previously earned a BSW and MSW from New York University, an MA from the Clinical Psychology program at Teachers College, Columbia University and an MTS from Harvard Divinity School. Dr. Frontus has been recognized for her leadership at her non-profit organization by various entities such as the New York State Senate, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, Coney Island Hospital and Courier Life. Her short mystery, “Stitches in Time,” was published in the Cat Crimes Through Time Anthology. As Dulcie Mills in Second Life, she has also been involved in writing as an editor and publisher of RezLibris, a Second Life librarian magazine. She is a professor in the Women's and Gender Studies Department at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Regulating Desire explores the legal regulation of young women's sexuality in the United States. The book covers five distinct time periods in which changing social conditions generated considerable public anxiety about youthful female sexuality and examines how successive generations of reformers sought to revise the law in an effort to manage unruly desires and restore a gendered social order. J. Shoshanna Ehrlich draws upon a rich array of primary source materials, including reform periodicals, court cases, legislative hearing records, and abstinence curricula to create an interdisciplinary narrative of socially embedded legal change. Capturing the complex and dynamic nature of the relationship between the state and the sexualized youthful female body, she highlights how the law both embodies and shapes gendered understandings of normative desire as mediated by considerations of race and class. Then I popped over to Gardens of Expressions for another event to raise awareness about Alzeimers and support Alzheimer's & Brain Research Charity. To end my Friday night, I stopped by Nashville Row for James Olmos concert which continued until wee hour of Saturday morning. James Olmos is one of those rare musicians who actually enjoys engaging with his fans. I was beyond amazed when he turned one of my poems into a song which he sang live! The highlight of my crazy week. Red Heaven performed their farewell show at Templemore in Second Life. I hope it's only for the summer and the band will be back in SL before the end of 2015. There are lot of festivities and hunts going on in Second Life this month. Each year we have had over 100 artist participants exhibiting in spaces over several sims. Finally, on February 27, Mic Wells (aka MrMulti Writer) and Meetu Writer performed at Gallery Rouge. Zap Mama continues its kickstarter campaign and has already exceeded its goal which means the 25th anniversary album will be a reality.  Today, I visited Tableau, a Second Life region after learning about it on The Drax Files. I met the sim creator, Nylon Pinkney, briefly while exploring various spots there. It's a fun, visually stimulating place to visit. The trip reminded me of my first days in SL where everything was new and was so fascinated by everything I discovered. She started performing publicly when she was 12, at church, coffeehouses and other functions. In 1996, Shannon recorded her debut CD, Some of My Years, an independent release produced by Eric Garrison at China Moon Studios. The CD features 12 original songs in a contemporary folk style with a hint of country flavor. Shannon’s rich vocals are reminiscent of Joan Baez and Natalie Merchant. Since 2008, Shannon has been performing daily for worldwide audiences in Second Life an online virtual world that offers a place to explore, socialize and participate in a host of activities, including live music. In May 2009, Shannon’s song “The Test,” was the winning song in a songwriting contest for Amnesty International.
