The United States has 5% of the world's population, yet 25% of the world's prison population. What in the world is going on? Talkupy with Annie Lindstrom welcomes National Lawyers Guild Attorney and Filmmaker Matthew Pillischer to Talkupy on Tuesday, March 26 at 11 am Eastern Time. Matthew will talk about the path that led him to film and direct the award-winning movie Broken On All Sides. The project began as a way to explore, edu­cate and advocate change with regard to the over­crowd­ing of the Philadelphia county jail sys­tem. The finished project, a full-length documentary, focuses on mass incarceration across the nation and the intersection of race and poverty within our criminal justice system.
