Percussionist Sameer Gupta and keyboardist Marc Cary are world renowned musicians. Sameer and Marc bring their Indigenous cultural expressions together and create a blend of East Indian, African American and Native American sounds. They have been performing and collaborating on music and concepts together for ten years. On October 12, Sameer’s CD Namaskar, recorded on the Motama label, will be released. On October 19, at Aaron Davis Hall this amazing collaborative concert presentation will premier the music from the CD Namaskar. Sameer Gupta is an accomplished percussionist, tabla player, writer and composer. He is an original artist within improvisational styles of jazz, world, and fusion music. Sameer has lived in Tokyo, San Francisco, New York City, and visited India annually. Today his skills and musicianship are appreciated globally. Marc Cary is a composer, writer has been hailed by Down Beat magazine as one of the most, “multi-dimensional keyboard players on the scene today" whose music reveals those multi-dimensions in sensual living color, Marc Cary’s continual search for his musical identity has brought him to all corners of the earth, quenching his thirst to bring forth indigenous music in all of their forms. Marc has recorded and played with Betty Carter, Arthur Taylor, Abbey Lincoln, Roy Hargrove, Stefon Harris, Erykah Badu, Q Tip, and many others.
