Jesus asked Peter this question centuries ago and the answer he gave pleased the Master very much. I wonder what Jesus thought last night when he was referred to by Deepak Chopra as a “perfect role model." More importantly, what did you think, and how did you feel? While some people in the church believe we should take a passive, appeasing position as it relates to social issues, politics, and topics of the day, I believe that ambassadors of heaven on earth should be as militant and imposing in these discussions as much as any other citizen of the United States. Personally, I am perplexed and filled with righteous indignation when I hear people refer to Jesus, the Son of God as a mortal, because He is not mortal. He is God. Scripture Text: Matthew 16: 13 - 17 Focus Point: Jesus is God Modernized/Spiritualized Response: The church has a responsibility to promote the sonship of Jesus to God and openly refute anything that opposes that viewpoint; just as other groups openly refute our beliefs.
