Talk Football

In this week’s episode, Justin Tuck participates in a total of eight downs, the Giants feel they still have room for improvement and Raheem Morris said his Bucs were “beaten by a grown-man team.”

When your defense has the ability to get the opposing offense off the field in a timely manner, nine times out of ten you’re going to win the game. This past Sunday, the New York Giants (3-0) defensive unit did just that. In one of the most lopsided victories to date, the G-men refused to allow a Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-3) first down until mid-way through the third quarter. With a final score of 24-0 in favor of the Giants, host Anthony C. Wayne couldn’t help but equate New York’s dominating win to an old-fashioned cow tipping. Tampa’s QB Byron Leftwich couldn’t get out of his own way, former Giants RB Derrick Ward (Wind) managed just two yards on five carries, and when it was all said and done the Buccaneers’ offense had 86 total yards.

Throughout the entire show, Wayne and co-host Tommy L. Biggs are in good spirits due to the Giants much-improved running game, including Ahmad Bradshaw who turned a third and short into a nifty 38-yard gain. Against Tampa, the third-year running back averaged 7.4 yards per carry and finished with 104 yards on the day. QB Eli Manning gave another solid performance connecting on two touchdowns and most importantly, no turnovers. On the other side of the ball, CB Terrell Thomas came up with a huge interception that put the Giants in good field position.

Talking Giants Football is then joined by Rich Rivera, a self-proclaimed football fan and a NY Jets fans at that. Rivera asks Tommy L. if he’s unsatisfied with the lackluster play calling of the Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride inside the red zone. Biggs strongly feels that he should strive to be a little more creative and Anthony C. Wayne wonders why Gilbride seems to second-guess himself and refuses to stick with what got him there to begin with.

The show runs longer than scheduled as Biggs and Wayne plead for the Giants defensive lineman to step up the pressure against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday and sack their quarterback, Matt Cassel.

Be sure and check out the next installment of Talking Giants Football next Tuesday at 10 pm.
