Call in to speak with the host
Before Midnight, which we think is one of the best movies of the first half of 2013, is the sequel to the films Before Sunrise (1995) and Before Sunset (2004) starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. These films are known for their extended scenes and intricate dialogue. Like its predecessors, Before Midnight delivers smart themes with sweet humor and intimate knowingness.
The first two movies in the series dealt with finding love, knowing when it is love, and the decision to commit to love. The latest, Before Midnight, takes up after the main characters, Jesse and Celine have been together for many years. It deals with the normal ups and downs of long-term relationships, raising kids and accepting and forgiving each other for failures. There is also an added complication of the collateral damage from the breakup of Jesse's first marriage and the ongoing custody issues.
We'll take a look at the whole series in this episode of Minstrel & Muse and welcome callers to join in with their thoughts.
