Your Old Droog / Nas, Likwuid talks "Likwuidity" EP, NY hip hop event previews

    in Music

Well, the mystery of Your Old Droog has come to a close.

    Or has it?

The mysterious MC, who many have insisted is a personification of an intricate wool-over-your-eyes plot by legendary lyricist Nas, has seemingly emerged as his own man. Two items have been released, just ahead of the Brooklyn upstart's "debut" performance, September 3 at Webster Hall.

The videos, one a well-produced in-studio session alongside long-time NYC producer DJ Skizz, and another, a casual freestyle caught in a darkened club, both make for a compelling argument that Your Old Droog is NOT Nas.

But there are those who are STILL not convinced.

Our hosts Manny Faces and Steve Ortiz are on opposite sides of the fence. Listen to them argue it out, and CALL IN with your thoughts.

Also joining us, one of our favorite aritsts, Likwuid! She'll be calling in to talk about her long-awaited, 2 Hungry Bros-produced EP, "Likwuidity: In Depth," featuring folks like DJ Evil Dee, Dylan Dili and Meredith Hansen of the Metropolitan opera(!).

As usual, we'll review and preview some great NY-area hip hop events, and drop some new releases you should know about.

Your Old Droog Performance Review, Mtume Gant talks 'Spit' and more!

    in Music

We saw it, but we still kinda don't believe it.

Your Old Droog made his first major public appearance at New York's Webster Hall, clearly proving himself to not be Nas, which conspiracy theorists had suspected for months.

The similar-sounding Brooklynite held it down with a technically sound performance, banters and stage presence. The crowd, even the ones who were disappointed, were impressed at Droog's abilities, both lyrically and performance-wise. In a room full of major media, Your Old Droog showed and proved.

So, we guess the conspiracy theories can rest.

    Or can they?

We'll talk about that, and we'll also be speaking with Mtume Gant, who is working toward putting together a short fim project entited "Spit: An homage to the unsung artists of New York City." A frequent performer and recording artist, Gant is looking to create this short film to "unpack the experience that so many artists fall victim to" in their quest for recognition.

We'll spend a little time previewing other shows and of course, take your live calls!

    Outsourcing Your Marketing

    in Marketing

Some companies prefer to handle their marketing internally, which is fine – up to a point. You need to establish some very clear metrics and determine when it’s time to outsource the marketing, before the competition leaves you behind.

The most important aspect is the return on investment you get from your marketing team. Remember than an external contractor will always use ROI as the most important unit of measure for each and every campaign held online. Therefore, if you’re not satisfied with the current ROI, and if you think there’s room for improvement, it’s time to think about outsourcing your marketing. Contact a few companies and openly discuss your concerns with them – it could be that you want too much, and your existing team is doing everything by the book and obtaining the maximum possible from the current situation on the market. A reliable marketer will tell you this immediately, and you’ll be able to understand what other options you have for growing your business.

Another sign that it’s time to outsource your marketing comes from noticing that you’re always one step behind the competition in all your campaigns and strategies. This is normal – marketing teams, no matter how passionate and well-source they are, simply cannot keep up with all the developments in the online environment. A professional marketer has access to more information, and has more tested strategies available – and therefore will make sure that you’re not left behind, quite to the contrary, that you’re ahead of everybody else in business. It’s up to you to decide when to start outsourcing your marketing, but most specialists would agree that the sooner, the better.

At Video Broadcast Services we are your Outsourced Marketing Firm. We focus on what marketing works, now to get your business to the top of the major search engines.
