On the Air With Candy Jackson and Mary Perez

    in Entertainment

Washington, DC author, Candy Jackson is a cosmetology teacher who loves to create poetry and short stories. Her reading rose to a brand new height with the discovery of many black writers whose work exploded in the '80's. An avid reader, she began to tap into her own creative side and decided to write stories of her own. Candy is the mother of three young adult children and one grandson. She can be reached at pepperedpages@hotmail.com.

Mary Perez is the author of Running in Heels. Running in Heels is more than a memoir. It is a promise of hope and survival to anyone who woke up hungry and went to bed hungrier every day, for anyone who was abandoned as a child or an adult, for every wife who has loved a husband who left bruises on her heart and on her body.

Discrimination!!!  I was shocked by ?#‎BRAVO? TV watching the ?#‎Prancing? Elite. My heart went out to these young men, all they want to do is dance in the Parades. For my Christian friends, God does not like for you to JUDGE or discriminate against another human being. You may not agree with their life style but who are you to judge, condemn, and discriminate? All I saw was beautiful young men with a Spiritual beauty that had heart for positive change in this WORLD. Please let us learn how to live and let live, who are we to Judge? If it does not cause bodily harm then let it be. Acceptance is the key, everyone has a right to be happy. Please join us for this discussion.

    D-Shep - @DShepWorld

D-Shep is more than a just a southern artist with a regional sense of hip-hop. His lyrics tell of his struggles to make it out of his rough beginnings in Miami's Naranja neighborhood. Success is not something that's given to you its something you must take for yourself; D-Shep learned this at a young age as he struggled to survive on Miami's south side. Signed to an independent record label, D-Shep, born Darrell Sheppard, is the real deal; he's been on the streets, with the stories and credibility to back it, but still his southern background is apparent in his sense for good music.
After his first two mixtapes, "Rent Money" and "Eviction Notice", D-Shep has managed to resurface with another compiled mixtape of growth, hood and truth. Honestly titled "Rent Money 2nd Impression", it is his renewed drive to restore hip hop in Miami. While some rappers have decided to follow a certain pattern to define Miami music, D Shep has decided to recreate that lane for his own personal use. His track "Snap" took a music trend in Miami called stick music and made it work for him. It addresses some of the frustrations most talented artists encounter in this industry. Songs like "Living that Life" ft Akon and "Can't See Me" ft Git Fresh take you through a journey of his thoughts causing you to understand his reality. Not to mention with the help of Veronica V, "Rather be with you" allows D-Shep to keep it real with the ladies to become that side dude.

Style with Trysh ~ Jon Marc

    in Entertainment

K.Secret Dunbar is CEO/Founder/Creative Director of Jon Marc and Secret7; both under the umbrella of Seven Curves. Her passion for fashion began at the very young age of two, when she insisted on dressing herself.

Growing up she’d often altered garments for a polished fit as she developed her curves. Before graduating high school she secured a management position in retail; it was then when she realized fashion was not only her passion it was also her purpose. A few years later, she opened a brick and mortar; this was the beginning of her seeking a place in the fashion market as a retailer. Although the business was successful, it was still difficult for K.Secret to find manufactured garments to fit the curvy hourglass figure of her and customers with the "curvy woman" issue. Very frustrated she resorted to altering inventory to compliment the shape of hourglass curves. Eventually, she constructed an entire garment and from there was inspired to design for women with the same curvy women complexes.

K.Secret soon discovered with fashion design and apparel construction there was a need for fashion education. A stickler for perfection she closed the business and pursued a full time degree in Fashion Merchandise and Retail Management at the Art Institute of Washington. During her studies she discovered a great love for Fashion History, Product Development, Merchandise Management and Branding; these courses were the foundation of her future in fashion as a designer. Shortly before receiving a Bachelor’s Degree, her research solidified the demand for her niche in the market; women with hour glass curves. This revelation was the births of Jon Marc- a clothing line for women with hourglass curves, Secret7- the footwear line (coming soon), and Seven Curves- the online boutique.
