Writestream Tuesday with author Chris Bostic

    in Writing

Join author, blogger, writer and internet radio host Dariaanne for Writestream Tuesday on January 20 at 1 p.m. Eastern when she welcomes author Chris Bostic to the show:

Chris Bostic is an author of young adult adventure novels. He was born in the suburbs of Chicago. While not completely set against the urban lifestyle, the lure of the country was much stronger. After college in central and southern Illinois, he ended up in the suburbs of St. Louis, where he gets away to rural Missouri as often as he can.  An avid outdoorsman, Chris uses his experiences to write all-too-realistic, gripping action/adventure, wilderness survival books that appeal to young and old alike.

Chris shares his outdoors passion with his wife, three wonderful children, and a Boy Scout troop. Chris' teenage son is an Eagle Scout. His red-headed middle child has a passion for reading (and is a budding young author). His youngest child is a very smart preschooler who's growing up too fast while keeping him young at heart.

Somehow, between a full time job and a busy family, Chris finds time to write.

During the live show, host and guest welcome your questions at (347) 945-7246, and your participation in the live chat. Tune in to Writestream Tuesday with author Chris Bostic on January 20 at 1 p.m. Eastern!

Brian Williams' Memory and the Credibility of Network TV news

    in News

The decision by the NBC television network to suspend superstar news anchor Brian Williams for six months without pay has prompted a closer look at the US network news culture, and the very future of the TV news business.

Today, Betsy West teaches journalism at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York. It’s a gentle and prestigious place for aspiring young reporters. But after 30 years as a top-level producer, reporter and documentarian for ABC, CBS and PBS, this 21 time Emmy award winner is intimately familiar with the rough and tumble stratosphere of an industry whose most trusted public face until last week may have been Brian Williams.

West was a CBS senior vice president in 2005 when iconic news anchor Dan Rather was forced out for getting a story wrong. She says those past controversies differ in one significant way with the digital age outcry over Brian Williams’ public “misremembering.”
