The NFL has expanded the Thanksgiving Day game to include three games. The two traditional games include Detroit hosting the early game, and the Dallas Cowboys hosting the afternoon game. The third game is a primetime event that rotates among the league. This year, the NFL decided to add the Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears. This is the leagues most played rivalry and will mark the 192nd meeting between the clubs. Chicago leads the overall series, including playoffs, 93-92-6.
In addition, the Green Bay Packers will retire the #4 jersey of Brett Favre at halftime. Joining the festivities will be Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr. Amidst the holiday and jersey retirement, there will be a football game played. The Packers defeated the Bears 31-23, in week one. Matt Forte tried to be a one man wrecking crew rushing for 141 yards on 24 carries. With the Bears down by eight, and a first and ten at the Green Bay 29; Jay Cutler threw a game changing interception. Clay Matthews intercepted Cutler and returned the ball into Chicago territory with under four minutes to play. The Packers cashed in with an Eddie Lacy two-yard run to make the score 31-16.
The Bears enter week 12 with a 4-6 record, and are in a must win situation if they want a chance to make the playoffs. They are currently two games behind the Atlanta Falcons for the last wildcard spot. The Packers regained first place with a win over the Vikings and must win to maintain first place, in the NFC North. Suprisingly, the Bears offense ranks higher (16th) than the Packers (21st), in total yards. However, yards don't win games and the Packers rank ninth in points scored (24.9) while the Bears rank 21st (21.4). The Bears racked up over 400 yards in the week one loss against a Packers defense that now ranks ninth in scoring defense (19.8). The Bears are allowing 25.1 points per game, which ranks 22nd. Listen in and call the show with your thoughts.
You see them all the time. Homeless people, wandering downtown, hanging around convenience stores or busy intersections panhandling for anything...money, food, a ride. I met Linda, a 52 year old, one-eyed homeless woman in Waco, TX. At first, she just asked me if I could help by giving her a little money..."anything you can spare would be appreciated." So, I reached in my pocket and pulled out some cash and gave her a couple of dollars. But before I did, I wanted to know a little about her life..."How did you come to be here?" I asked. She told me of her daily challenges and fearful nights living in the streets of Waco. She explained what happened to her and how she lost her eye. "I was sleeping, and someone swung at me with an ax," she said, as she pulled back her cap and hair, to reveal the damage to her skull. She's bouncing from place to place...one homeless shelter to another. One convenience store to another. I went in to pay for gas and as I was walking back to pump gas, she asked me if I could give her a ride. I agreed on one condition, that she would allow me to record her story during our drive. Tonight, I'll air she short interview. Call ins welcome.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your's. We are especially thankful to bring you a show stuffed with great topics. We'll lead off with discussion about the Los Angeles Dodgers hiring of rookie manager Dave Roberts and what his hiring could signal in terms of what the mindset of the Dodgers' Andrew Friedman and Farhan Zaidi is regarding the team and next season.
What is a show given during Thanksgiving week without discussing the NFL? We will explain why Dallas Cowboys QB Tono Romo is a legitimate MVP candidate despite missing 7 games so far this year. We will also let you know whether we feel the Denver Broncos should continue to start Brock Osweiler if he continues to play well even if Peyton Manning recovers from his latest injury. Should Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly go back to college or is there another move he can make to salvage his NFL career?
Speaking of college football, USC football is going after someone big as far as their next head coach. Is it Brian Kelly, Chip Kelly, Pete Carroll or someone else of that ilk? We'll discuss.
It's been a weird season for both Los Angeles-based NBA teams. The Los Angeles Lakers are worse than anyone expected. The Los Angeles Clippers have bigger problems than just acclimating their new players We'll discuss the latest developments surrounding both teams.
Again, happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We are truly thankful to all of you for making the Core Show for Diehard Sports Radio possible.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday are two holidays that are celebrated but don't take into account the feelings of others. What do the indigenous people of this country do during this time of year? How do Black people feel about a Friday being called Black because it's supposedly the worst Friday of the year? Do you know? Do you care?
