The traditional school year for preK-12 students spans over 10 months, generally August to May or September to June, in over 80 percent of the public schools within the United States. I had the pleasure of teaching at the first multitrack year-round school in North Carolina, Morrisville Year-Round Elementary School, and learned several important principles about learning that can be applied no matter students' school schedules. Learning is not limited to school; learning is a way of life. I will provide suggestions on using the resources in our local communities to stimulate young scholars academically and ensure that they are immersed in a productive learning environment, whether formally enrolled in school or not.

SCHOOL SECURITY... AS THE YEAR BEGINS
THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS
Mo Canady, Executive Director, about the recent NASRO conference and your safety readiness as the school year begins.
Growing up as a raw vegan kid, Daniel always had a different view on food and health than his fellow classmates and friends. But being different was never really a concern to him since he knew the reasoning behind his food choices.
Rather than fitting in, Daniel was always more intrigued with encouraging others make healthier food choices. He was convinced that if others were exposed to reliable information they would make drastic diet and lifestyle changes. It wasn’t until his 3rd year of elementary school that Daniel began actively speaking on the topic in public. It all began one day when his teacher asked him to present before the class about his diet. After talking to his classmates about the dangers of GMOs, many began to trash their candy and unhealthy snacks and others told him how they switched to healthier alternatives at home. Daniel was thrilled and created a series of health presentations for kids. In May 2014, Daniel spoke at March Against Monsanto Vancouver. Little did he know, his words would not only leave the crowd memorized, but make headlines as one of the greatest speeches for MAM Worldwide! Shortly after, Daniel spoke at the VegExpo, David Wolfe’s events and participated in interviews with personalities such as Rachel Parent and Jeffrey M. Smith.

This week is a special episode as I will be making a tribute to the graduates of "The 360 girl- Evolution to a young lady" 8-week summer seminar 2014. These girls have committed to investing in themselves to evolve from girls to young ladies. Therefore, the question we will be answering is "What makes a lady a lady?"
As the host of the show as well as the Founder of The 360 Evolution Academy, which is hosting these 8-week seminars with Fayola Delica, LLC., I, Fayola Delica, will share my take on what it means to be a lady in the 21st century. The 360 Evolution Academy is a holistic etiquette school where we discuss finances, mental/emotional health, spiritual health/purity, etiquette, educational/professional goal-setting, and public speaking/leadership.
As ladies of all ages, we have so much we have to mindful of and still keep up with society. Yet, all this can be done with grace and class. I believe in living a life of sophistication, and I want to instill these same values in the young ladies who will be graduating from this year's program on Saturday, August 23, 2014.
We also have a program a similar program for boys, recent college graduates, and singles coming soon...
When Bob Dorigo Jones started the Wacky Warning Labels™ Contest 17 years ago he wanted to showcase the lengths to which companies feel they must go to avoid the lawsuit-happy culture that is unique to America. Fast-forward to this year’s Contest, and the “winners” are crazier than ever. As the Contest creator and Senior Fellow for Center for America, which sponsors the Contest, he points out that each year, new and ever-costlier symptoms of the plague of abusive lawsuits on our economy and way of life find their way to the public’s eye. This year, he noticed a new trend in labels and, by extension, lawsuits and lawsuit prevention by foreign companies doing business in the U.S.
In the past, warning labels like the one on a fishing lure that advised: “Harmful if swallowed,” and the baby stroller that cautioned: “Remove child before folding” dominated the contest. However, those warnings almost sound logical compared to the winner of the 2014 contest.
This year, the wackiest warning label in America as selected by the audience of a national television show was found on a cell phone battery booster. It warns: “Get rid of children.”
Bob Dorigo Jones is senior fellow at the Center for America, creator of the annual Wacky Warning Labels™ Contest, and the bestselling author of "Remove Child Before Folding: The 101 Stupidest, Silliest and Wackiest Warning Labels Ever."
On Episode 26, we continue our look ahead at the 2014 MAC Football season with some discussion of the Bowling Green Falcons. Pete Seymour joins Alex and Bryan as they revisit the magical ride that was 2013 and look ahead to what 2014 holds for the Falcons.
Bowling Green, thanks to the emergence of stud quarterback Matt Johnson and his running back partner in crime Travis Greene, rode their way to a MAC Championship in 2013, knocking off the 12th ranked NIU Huskies in Detroit rather handedly. But shortly after capturing the championship, fifth-year head coach Dave Clawson left for Wake Forest. Insert former Eastern Illinois head coach Dino Babers, and his Baylor offense, and suddenly BG looks like the offensive juggernaut of the mid-west. But no coaching change goes off 100 percent perfect, and with Chris Gallon likely out for the year, and some questions on the line, there's potential for some bumps in the road for BGSU this fall.
