Join Devin & Melissa Pellew as they discuss topics related to biblical theology, Christian apologetics and worldview issues. This week we will discuss the idea of Christianophobia. We hear a lot in the media about Islamophobia and Homophobia but we will be discussing the bias against Christianity in our society- particularly in academia.
Joining us to discuss this issue will be Professor of Sociology, Dr. George Yancey, from the University of North Texas. He has published several research articles on the topics of institutional racial diversity, racial identity, academic bias and anti-Christian hostility. His books include Compromising Scholarship (Baylor University Press) a book that explores religious and political biases in academia, There is no God (Rowman and Littlefield) a book that investigates atheism in the United States, So Many Christians,So Few Lions (Rowman and Littlefield) a book that assess Christianophobia in the United States, and Hostile Environment (Intervarsity Press) a Christian book that explores how Christians should deal with Christianophobia. He currently is working to create the first Christian Studies center on a secular campus.
Join us for this discussion on a topic that is rarely discussed but is important as we reach the next generation in the classroom.

Locked in the fight of his political life, veteran City Councilor Charles Yancey said yesterday he believes aggressive door-knocking will be enough to record a “resounding” victory in tomorrow’s election over surging rival Andrea Joy Campbell, who trounced the 31-year councilor in the September primary.Boston Herald
Ohio voters could make history when they head to the polls Tuesday. Depending on the outcome of the election, Ohio could become the first state to legalize marijuana for both medical and recreational use in a single vote. The decision comes down to votes on two issues, though. Issue 3 on the ballot led to the creation of Issue 2, which could keep Issue 3 from actually happening. It’s easy to see how this can get confusing, but here’s how it all WANE

Where does one begin with a vocalist of this ability - and magnitude? Are they the same in the case of Indra Rios-Moore? Born in the Lower East Side of New York, Indra's Puerto Rican Mom (who named her after a Hindu deity of sky and rain) would keep her indoors. She was afraid of the dangers OUTSIDE. So, little Indra would entertain herself with Mom's vast collection of Rock, Soul and Jazz - that latter, we're supposing, partly influenced by Indra's Dad. Of African-American/Syrian descent - a Jazz bassist: Donald Moore.
Through her teen years, Indra found herself in fascinating evolution. She had truly been fearful of being on stage - and she was working through that. Also, because of the early promise that Indra had shown regarding her talent, she was studying classical arias - as well as American Folk songs at camp. Combined with what was already immersed as inspiration as a child, her inner repertoire expanded.
At 26, she met Danish Jazz saxophonist, Benjamin Traerup. A year later, they were married and living in Denmark. And Indra's career began to take shape. Benjamin and his transplanted wife formed a trio - with bassist, Thomas Sejthen. The attention that they received translated into accolades, nominations, and then a gift: the Danish Music Award for Best Jazz Vocal. Three albums later, Indra is continuing to receive praise. Her voice and the Hybrid sensibility that has always been part of her soul couldn't have arrived at a better time.
When you hear "Heartland", you will hear the echoes of the past (Motown and Pink Floyd). You'll hear multiple languages. And you'll feel Church. As Indra has said: singing helps her move to an emotional place "where the mind doesn't interfere."
Our No Interference Chat Room awaits :)
