Join us as Sandy Fox and Holly Stephey talk about world Water day and the things you can do to help ..A mesage from Sandy Fox .. Lex and I are participating in our 5th year of WALKING for WATER so the women of Samburu don't have to. Women and young girls have the responsibility in their village of searching for clean water and walking up to ten miles a day.
The Samburu Project has drilled over 60 wells and brought clean water to over 60,000 since 2005. World Water Day has been observed on 22 March since 1993 when the United Nations General Assembly declared 22 March as "World Day for Water "The UN and its member nations devote this day to implementing UN recommendations and promoting concrete activities within their countries regarding the world's water resources. International World Water Day tries to remind people about the significance of fresh water and to promote sustainability for fresh water resources' management. .Many events are held worldwide during World Water Day.
World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. We speak to Hadiara Diallo, Director of Micro- Finance with Wells Bring Hope, an organization that strives to provide clean, safe water in one of the most water deprived countries on this planet, Niger. Although making clean, safe water accessible in Niger is a major starting point, Hadiara also subscribes to the belief that providing women the means to survive and realize their dreams through concrete economic programs is the way to approach long-term development plans.
